The hostel “La Foresta di Fonte Spugna” is located in the province of Perugia, in a hilly area on the edge of the Trasimeno Lake Regional Park, about 10 km from the ancient village of Passignano and the lakeshore.
Here, nature is untouched, the landscape is wide and open, and the woods stretch as far as the eye can see, occasionally interrupted by farms and medieval hamlets.

Our facility stands on the sunny side of a green hill in the heart of a vast protected area — “The Woods of Castel Rigone”, which, due to its rich flora and fauna, has been designated a Site of Community Interest (SCI).

The Centre includes a private 30‑hectare woodland area, dotted with isolated clearings where several species of orchids bloom. Along an easy network of trails, guests can enjoy pleasant walks through the forest and reach the clear stream that crosses the property, discovering an untouched natural environment.

Just a few metres from the hostel you can find traces of wild boar, badgers and roe deer, and porcupine quills are often seen along the paths. The tree platforms are ideal spots for observing birds of prey, green woodpeckers and jays. In the seasonal pools and in the stream live frogs, newts and the rare spectacled salamander — nature here feels close enough to knock on your window.

Despite the apparent isolation, the facility is very close to towns with all essential services and to many interesting historical and artistic sites.

The Centre can also provide transport to the lake and nearby locations.
